South Pointe Football

Post by fanofbcmoose »

Can anybody comment on the current state of South Pointe Football? Losing on the road at Midland Valley? Multiple losses in a season? Is it still the same South Pointe?

South Pointe has as much talent, maybe more, as anybody in 4A. Got to look at the top. Somebody at South Pointe decided Collins was the guy for the job. This after he took over a Marlboro program left in good shape when Dean Boyd left for York, and promptly ran it into the ground. And then somehow gets the South Pointe job. Go figure.

South Pointe is still South Pointe, lost to Gaffney, South Florence, Northwestern and Midland Valley. Three of four games were one score games. All four still playing football, two are undefeated. Sometimes the better coached team beats the team with more talent. Could very easily be 11-1 and still playing football.

Always a head scratcher as to how Collins got that job over several better candidates :? . Hopefully they can get that program back on track as the premier program in SC.

Midland Valley is having a fantastic season, undefeated, with some fantastic players and South Point gave us a very tough game. They had the lead for part of the 3rd and most of the 4th quarter. Say what you will, but I think Collins is going to have plenty more wins there. He just faced some of the best opponents in the state this season.

Agree with you. But that is also the problem. South Pointe used to be that best opponent. They aren’t anymore

All my opinions.

Collins has lots of talent to work with. He cannot coach with a 3A running running running mentality on offense. The TOP 4A teams are always balanced and currently South Pointe is not. Also, until the penalties get under control, South Pointe will continue to struggle. Herron had an extremely disciplined team and it showed up in state championships. Collins MUST get this under control.

After his hire, scuttlebutt was that, over time, South Pointe would still be a good team, but most likely a consistent early out in the playoffs. Seems to be playing out.

Time will tell with what direction South Pointe goes. HOPEFULLY, back to the powerhouse they were previously and state championships will have to go through Football City USA......as in South Pointe & Northwestern & Rock Hill!

I honestly think South Pointe is turning into a middle of the road team, something just seems to be off with them.

The video of this cat trying to drive, reminds me of Bobby Collins trying to Coach South Pointe.
