Can someone say or post what the playoff bracket for 5A will look likely?
So far, we mostly have speculation on the brackets. They have announced which teams will be in division 1 and 2, and which teams will be upper and lower state. (With the exception of Spring Valley, Lexington, Ridge View, and River Bluff which will alternate between upper and lower.)

There are 26 teams in 5A-1, there are 28 in 5A-2. Most of the gurus here suspect they will have two, 24 team brackets, with the top 4 seeds in each division getting a first week bye. Regions with 7 or 8 teams get 4 automatic berths, regions with 6 teams get 3. Seeding will be based on MaxPreps rankings. If there are any berths remaining, at-large berths will be determined by MaxPreps rankings. That means we won't know all the teams that made the playoffs, or who will play who, until MaxPreps updates their rankings after the week 10 results are entered. :(

This is going to be a hundred times more complicated than the previous points system and someone is going to need more than a magic spreadsheet to figure this stuff out!

Wow, that's nuts. I'm not familiar with MaxPreps RPI rankings, but the only way I can make SCHSL's example scenarios work is if a lower RPI number is the better rank.

That is correct, it is not an RPI but an RPI RANKING.

Batman I feel like you know me well enough to know I’ll never figure all that out …Max preps has biases…so I don’t think I’ll be the only one..

I think anything that doesn't come from games played on the field is biased and I'll tell that to anyone who asked.

I like a simple points system like the one that has been on here before where you count all your Region Games and you get to drop one of your Non-Region games because some teams play "rivalry games" that could hurt you points wise but help you money wise.... Bonus points for games against winning teams and less points for playing smaller teams.

First thing should always be HEAD TO HEAD and then points system. This thing about a team getting bumped because of this and that... too complicated for me!

I agree. Head-to-Head wins and losses should be considered before any statistical ranking.
