Best programs in the state?

Post by Ddub14 »

So who has the best programs going today?
I’m not talking about a one year deal but an overall assessment of programs.
Coaching
Facilities and backing
Competitive level and consistently winning
Depth and quality of talent

For purposes of the discussion refrain from being a homer for your own team.

In the upstate it's gotta be Spartanburg or maybe Gaffney.

That Spartanburg stadium is incredible.

You'd have a better chance of getting Trump fans to vote Democrat than to get folks to do this...

Coaching - Dutch Fork, like him, hate him, facts are facts! He's proved what he did in Charlotte was not a one time deal.

Facilities - Spartanburg/Dorman/Gaffney are all great

backing - Gaffney when it comes to fans, they travel well, too. I've been at Gaffney and on the road with Gaffney (not Byrnes games) and they will get into the game and they will give the coaches a hand full...

Competitive level and consistently winning - Dutch Fork has played for State 83 Million times in a row (at least it seems like it)

Depth and quality of talent - you'd think Dutch Fork ( but with 24 transfers on the roster this year???) but maybe it is not "depth" like you are referring to.... I'm just saying! But it's not like they are the only team (Gaffney with 3 new QB's in 3 years, and the list goes on and on) so I don't know if there is an answer to that question.....

I woke up this morning, that's a positive!
Right now I am vertical, on top of the grass
and I don't hear harp music! All good things!

I like Gaffney’s stadium. And the atmosphere there is incredible. If I was a 14-15 year old kid I would want to play there. Best fan base around my opinion. Them people just want to win and win at any cost. Gotta respect that.

Camden.
Haha that's funny. Camden runs a decent program but you can't lose 3/4 state titles and be the best program in the state for sure.

Coaching - Dutch Fork, Daniel, Northwestern all great coaching systems
Facilities - Spartanburg area schools, and a few Midlands like RB
Backing - Abbeville, Daniel, Gaffney, I even give Camden credit for showing up for multiple state titles and not losing hope
Competitive level and consistently winning - Only correct answer here is DF. Abbeville close second. Others have consistently won too, but just not the same way. Honorable mention to SF, DWD, Christ Church. Northwestern working their way into that club too.
Depth and quality of talent - Hard to compare quality of talent between different classes. Christ Church's talent to win 1A loses by 50 to a Gaffney. Depth and talent has to be relative to the class right?

Overall DF is the only answer of the true best program

Abbeville head coach Jamie Nickles, who is the school's winningest coach with more than 210 wins and has won eight state titles as head coach. Abbeville has 12 total state titles.

Besides Knotts at Dutch Fork what is the history? Have you been to a game in Abbeville? The support they have and to do what Nickles has done at Abbeville over 19 years is incredible. He and that program are right up there with anyone including Dutch Fork. They are the smallest 2A school in the state in the new realignment and I would be willing to bet there is not anyone that wants to play them year in and year out in that division. Dutch Fork is King right now and has been for a while since Knotts came there but if it weren't for the Charter schools in 2A over the last several years Abbeville would probably have at least 2 more titles.
