FLORENCE — Former Wilson High School boys basketball coach Bob Wilson will be named the school’s athletic director, according to sources close to the school. Wilson replaces DeAndre Scott, who was named interim AD in January after Kevin Hawkins was suspended for the rest of the year.
Wilson coached basketball in the Florence area from 1980 to 2009. He was head coach and an assistant at both Wilson and West Florence.
As head coach at Wilson from 2005-09, he guided the Tigers to a 76-31 mark and the 2007 Class 3A state championship, the first in school history. Since stepping down from coaching the Tigers’ basketball program in 2009, Wilson has been a teacher at South Florence.
