Sources: Marion set to hire Johnson as football coach

After a year away from football, Leonard Johnson is returning to the sidelines.
The former Scott’s Branch coach will be the new football coach at Marion, sources have told the Morning News. Johnson replaces Don Cribb, who left last month to become the baseball coach at Latta High School.
Johnson went 50-37 and helped turn around a struggling Scott’s Branch football program, which lost 21 games in a row, when he got there in 2005. The losing streak reached 31 games before the Eagles became one of the state’s top Class A programs.
