South’s Jones healthy, ready to lead Bruins as starting QB

FLORENCE, S.C. — As the South Florence High School football team practiced on a rainy Tuesday, the Bruins still were three days away from their season opener, a Week 0 matchup on the road at Clover on Friday.

The way junior Nick Jones was feeling, it might as well have been game day already.

“It’s exciting, it’s nerve-wracking, there’s anticipation all over the place, nerves everywhere,” he said.

It might not be what a coach wants to hear from his starting quarterback on Tuesday of game week, but Jones has a good reason to look forward to Friday.
