2020 Outlook for High School Football

Post by Rebel-Fan-74 »

Well, we are getting closer and closer and while we are seeing some "practices" and things appear to be moving forward; however, we are not certain that we will be having actual football games with fans.

I'm still not sure what to expect in August but I do know it will be horrible if we do not get to have a season. Yes, the health and safety of the kids, coaches and even the fans comes first....

But I find it amazing that we can go to Lowe's and Home Depot but we can't go to church. We can't have more than 10 people together; but all the rioters and protesters are exempt from that rule. How is it that we can shop at Walmart but not at the local small businesses? There is just too much that doesn't add up for me. I'm not a conspiracy theory type but this just has me baffled. Things that defy explanation and can't be confirmed are easily manipulated to fit your needs. Problem is, those who control the story, are not always on out side.

74 you are so right. All of this makes no sense but I don't see where we won't be able to have a season but then again with the way these idiots running the show are we probably won't but then again money does rule the world then I don't see a scenario that doesn't have football in the world this year

its political man .as long as you protest for a just cause covid doesn't matter..people are overwhelming the testing systems in our area since the protests.4 to 5 lines of cars
At my daughters office .a bunch of positives came in today.
I mean im not against anyone's right to protest .but social distance your self while doing so.
The rioters should get lead poisoning.

I truly believe certain political parties want the economy to crash out of hatred for potus.to end his electability.
Which doesnt seem likely anyway .
Im non party affiliated .ill vote fir whom ever can fatten my wallet which is conservative at the time.
Im not a big fan of potus but he had the economy rolling.on the otherside the guy cant rember what he did 5 minutes ago.
Idealy id like a mix of both parrties ideas to a degree.
But messing with people's living and ways to provide for thier family's is ridiculously insane.
God help all of us .especially if out of 350 million people
This is the best we can cime up with as a collective government
.
Those participation trophys are paying back ten fold.
Had the opportunity to teach the younger generation about hard work earning thier way.blew it on most of them.
So yeah 74 we are getting buttbanged for political reasons.
From what i understand 550 cases a day with testing increases 6 to to 800 that is spread not increase testing.

Another thing dont trust the government theyonly told us masks didnt matter at first so they could save them for the medical workers knowing damn well we needed them also.
Dirty man .its the have vs the have nots.we really need
To end this racial crap and get together before we all get steamrolled by the government.

It seems like having games actually happen is a done deal. The question remains the amount of fans in stands. The talk is to limit capacity, anywhere from 25% up to 75%. If capacity is limited to 50%, this really won't be a big deal for 90% of the games around the state. Very few games have more than 50% capacity. Sure, major region games and rivalries pack out, but not all games do that. Stadiums that seat 6-7k routinely only have 2-3k there, so we wouldn't see a major change on most games. Where schools would lose revenue potential would be those "money games". But, with all of that said, even without restrictions, we are likely to see attendance take a dip this year as most grandparents and other elderly fans could potentially stay home.

This will bring about several new issues:

Who gets tickets and who doesn't?

Do parents and other family members get priority, then students?

Season ticket holders get in next?

What about visiting team's fans?

I would think that a priority listing would have to be put in place. While the attendance figures you mention may be true at some facilities, that is not the norm at Byrnes, Dorman, Gaffney and several other shools in our area. Chapman is usually standing room only on the home side for most games, Union County and Greer pack them in as well. As for the "money games" that you mention; there could be overflow crowds where finding a seat 45 minutes before kickoff is difficult on the home side and impossible on the visitor side.

I don't claim to have the answer, but my two cents worth would be, you have to give family members and students priority on available tickets. After that, no matter what you do, you will make folks angry so there would be no correct answer.

Here is a unique thought about Covid-19 and how it is affecting our daily lives and activities. Maybe we (the average, every day citizen) should stop asking questions of and listening to answers from, politicians, news networks, civic leaders, pastors, preachers, shop keepers, business owners and investment bankers, in reference to medical and health related issues and instead, ask questions of and listen to answers from, MEDICAL and HEALTHCARE specialists. All of those folks have at least 8 years of College education and countless years of on the job experience dealing with these sorts of things. They will give you a straight up answer to your question without bias, without favoritism, without any ulterior motives. But, WTH, I have sat back and read all of the posts of you experts for several months now. You guys have all of the answers so why even bother wondering why our State now ranks in the top 6 of having the highest percentage of new cases of Covid-19 in the nation. Do as der Fuhrer says and just ignore it. It will all go away on it's own. And like der Fuhrer, make sure to point your fingers at someone else for any bad news. Throw your masks away, stand shoulder to shoulder, face to face, with everyone that you come in contact with. And by all means, demand that children are allowed to play sports, go to the beaches and swimming pools, attend movies, and anything else where close proximity is necessary. Send them back to school in August so that you can feel free to do as you please once more. The hell with other people's lives and health, just make sure that you are free to do whatever it is that you want. As an elderly male with COPD, Diabetes, and a Pacemaker, remember that I am the poster child for High Risk. Your personal freedoms may just be the cause on me catching the virus. That should encourage every last one of you to go out and get exposed. I have to burst you bubbles here, though, because I have been confirmed as having had Covid-19 last September before anyone even knew what Covid-19 was. It was February before I fully recovered, and I have all of the antibodies in my system now. I am still sitting here, shaking my head, at just how cavalier your attitudes are when you are supporting putting all of these kid's lives at risk. It is one thing to do it to yourself and your family, but to knowingly expose these kids to this virus is beyond anything comprehensible. You should all stand up and take a bow. You should be so proud of yourselves for NOT thinking about others and ONLY thinking of yourselves. Y'all have fun!
