Finally Arthur Blank must have sacrificed a bit of profit for the common good. Now if only Ray Tanner and the powers that be at USC would do the same and give the kids in SC the proper setting for our state championships.

The Benedict stadium is woefully inadequate for the 4A and 5A games. (Maybe 3A as well, some of those schools travel well.)

If Williams-Brice isn't an option, they need to look to SCSU, their stadium is twice the size of Benedict's.

Totally agree. These kids have earned the trip to the state championship and Benedict is what they end up with? It's a joke from parking, visitor seating, concession, restrooms etc. We play at other stadiums that are better than that Gaffney, Spartanburg, Dorman and district 3 just to name a few. SCHSL is probably just lining their pockets.

From what I was told, it wasn't necessarily the choice of the SCHSL. It seems that USC wanted to charge an exorbitant amount for the use if the stadium. I used to go to WB with different folks that didn't have any dog in the fight and watch games all day. It was great. Now without the option of going to anything but one game at a time, the casual fan isn't going to go like they used to. But with that setup, I figure the SCHSL does make more money. But as a university funded greatly by the tax payer, one would hope that someone in power, or at USC, would do the right thing and make it affordable for the teams to play in a proper setting for a state championship. No player, when they were dreaming of playing in a state championship, had playing at Benedict as part of that dream.

The 2021 title game with Gaffney v Dutch Fork was a great atmosphere. The biggest issue is two schools with a Gaffney like crowd would have caused some issues. The home side is about the perfect size but when there are back to back games that causes problems with crowd control and parking issues.

I like the smaller stadium. WB swallows up the crowd. SC State has major parking issues. Not an easy answer.
