Projections

Post by Rebel-Fan-74 »

Well, you have to start somewhere, and we do have a few games under our belts to use as a crystal ball...

So here are my first take projections at what the bracket could look like. Some regions look like you could used permanent marker to write in the Region Champion while others are completely wide open. I don't think anything is ready for the permanent marker, but T L Hanna and Fort Dorchester do look to be the odds on favorite in their regions while some are completely up in the air. Region Three could be any combination you choose; but this much we know: One of those teams will not be in the bracket any where.

R F R=Region F=Finish
1 #1 T L Hanna
3 #4 Gaffney
------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 #3 Clover
2 #2 Mauldin
------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 #1 Byrnes
1 #4 Woodmont
------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 #3 Hillcrest
4 #2 Fort Mill
------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 #1 Northwestern
2 #4 Laurens
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 #3 Easley
3 #2 Spartanburg
------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 #1 Greenwood
4 #4 Rock Hill
------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 #3 Boiling Springs
1 #2 Westside

0 F R=Region F=Finish
5 1 Dutch Fork
7 6 Stratford
------------------------------------------------------------------------
6 3 Carolina Forest
7 3 Summerville
------------------------------------------------------------------------
6 2 Sumter
5 5 White Knoll
------------------------------------------------------------------------
5 4 Irmo
7 2 Ashley Ridge
------------------------------------------------------------------------
6 1 Conway
7 5 Wando
------------------------------------------------------------------------
5 2 Spring Valley
7 4 West Ashley
------------------------------------------------------------------------
7 1 Fort Dorchester
AL AL AT LARGE
------------------------------------------------------------------------
5 3 Blythewood
6 4 West Florence

================================================================================================================
Of the seven Region Champions shown in this projection, how many do you think will actually win their region?

Northwestern should win their region, which isn't saying much this year as Region 4 is very weak top to bottom.

A first round victory would be an outside possibility simply based on it being a #1 seed vs #4 seed game.

74 you confident this is the 2017 bracket? It's basically the same as last year. I thought the bracket changed each year?

Lower State only had a few changes. The Upper State, with four regions flipped the match ups. I guess trying to fill four sections of the bracket with only three regions limits you on what you can change. But the SCHSL stands by their reasoning for switching to 5A: "This way we will all do it the same way!"

Yet 7 Regions 4 in Upper State and 3 in Lower State
5 team Regions, 6 team Regions, 7 team Region and an 8 team Region
but we are all doing it the same way...

This is what I had after last week's game. Let's see if any results from last night make my want to change my mind.

R F R=Region F=Finish
1 #1 T L Hanna
1 #2 Westside
1 #3 Easley
1 #4 Woodmont
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, it is pretty obvious to me that T L Hanna is far and
away the best team. For about a quarter and one more
series, Westside looked solid enough to leave them at
#2 in this Region. So unless the quarter lands on tails
between Woodmont and J L Mann, nothing changes here.

2 #1 Greenwood
2 #2 Mauldin
2 #3 Hillcrest
2 #4 Laurens
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Greenwood and Mauldin are still 1 and 1A in my mind, but
to be totally honest, I may be tempted to put Mauldin in
the top spot this week.

3 #1 Byrnes
3 #2 Spartanburg
3 #3 Boiling Springs
3 #4 Gaffney
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Toughest Region to pick for me. Friday night's match up of
Byrnes and Spartanburg should go a long way to determine
if the Vikings or the Rebels are in the top spot. Dorman was
odd man out last week, but as I said, this one is one that
could be all five teams tied at 2-2. I still think the standing
that I'm showing here is what I will go with for one more week.

4 #1 Northwestern
4 #2 Fort Mill
4 #3 Clover
4 #4 Rock Hill
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Northwestern and then roll the dice. Since I have no reason
to change since they showed me something, I guess I just
leave it alone???

0 F R=Region F=Finish
5 1 Dutch Fork
5 2 Spring Valley
5 3 Blythewood
5 4 Irmo
5 5 White Knoll
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unless Spring Valley pulls the upset, I still like this one from
last week at the top. Lexington will move from At Large
all the way to either 3 or 4 in this week's projection. I'll
probably end up with Lexington at 3.

6 1 Conway
6 2 Sumter
6 3 Carolina Forest
6 4 West Florence
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Still like this line up for now. Sumter vs Conway will determine
the Region Champion and for some reason, I think Conway will
emerge at the top.

7 1 Fort Dorchester
7 2 Ashley Ridge
7 3 Summerville
7 4 West Ashley
7 5 Wando
7 6 Stratford
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Absolutely not changing the #1 spot, but with Summerville's
win last night, I guess they move up to the #2 spot with the
rest of the teams are fluid... move them into any spot and
you get no argument from me.

AL AL AT LARGE
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whoever doesn't get an automatic berth from Region 5
Since Lexington moved up, maybe Irmo?

7 1 Fort Dorchester
AL AL AT LARGE
Is there any reason a 5th/6th place team from region 5 or 6 would willing volunteer for that bus ride? :(

I'm guessing the 7th place team from region 7 will again be forced into the at-large slot.
