Those map links should work for everyone now. "Private" is the default setting in Google Maps, I had to make them public.

5A - 32 teams - 1750 to 4065 https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid= ... OxxcckeGLs" target="_blank
4A - 48 teams - 1119 to 1696 https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid= ... lgHFuU_I5I" target="_blank
3A - 48 teams - 710 to 1106 https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid= ... 98Z-4jDStw" target="_blank
2A - 40 teams - 408 to 698 <map is work in progress>
1A - 45 teams - 370 and below <pending>

So May I ask a crazy Question... I know that Football has not started...But based on the Numbers... Spartanburg at 26 SHOULD be Division II again? Thanks SF Dad for all the work you do!!!!

If the Spartanburg enrollment number is indeed 26, they should be safely in the 4a-D2 bracket.

My first attempt (on the other thread about re-alignment) was the best I could come up with using the first set of numbers and I used 42 teams in 5A.

I'm like the rest of you, there seems to be no clear cut way to do the regions and classifications ESPECIALLY, when you take into account the sports like Baseball and Softball, and then you think of things like tennis, wrestling and the other sports that don't generate any revenue at most schools. Can you imagine loading the bus with the baseball team on a Tuesday to go from Myrtle Beach to Charleston? $$$$$$$$$$$ = District Officials become anxious and cut programs quickly. Handbooks specifically state that you must play every team in your Region for most sports, not sure if they would make some exceptions for the smaller sports.

Oh, interesting. Expanding 5A to 42 brings in Socastee and Conway. That could skew the maps. I'm going to try that, but I bet it has a nasty effect on 4A.

I had to seriously rethink the lower classes once I realized that 12 schools do not have football programs. I shifted Bamberg-Ehrhardt and Carvers Bay down to 1A and redrew 2A into 6 regions.

5A Map

I decided I hated the odd sized regions and just took another swing at 5A. This time I've got 40 teams and to even out the regions I had to push some schools down to 4A and pull others up. Ended up with 6,6,6,8,6,8.

Playing down in 4A:
36 1641 Riverside
37 1638 Westside
40 1620 Greenwood

Playing up in 5A:
41 1619 Socastee
42 1618 Conway
43 1614 Lugoff-Elgin

Now the fun part, making 4A work with the next 36-48 schools.

I finally worked my way through all the classes and finalized my proposed realignment. Here's a link to it.
