It's getting CRUNCH time. Playoff implications in games

Region One W L W L
1 Westside 2 0 5 3
2 T L Hanna 1 0 7 0
3 Woodmont 1 1 2 6
4 J L Mann 0 1 2 5
5 Easley 0 2 3 5

1 T.L. Hanna 242.1 Woodmont 192.3 25
1 Westside 223.6 J.L. Mann 166.7 29
Not much here {unless someone pulls a big upset} to affect the playoff standings as both of the favorites are HEAVY favorites. I have to go with Doodles on both of these games. If it happens, it will be a HUGE upset.

W L W L
1 Greenwood 2 0 5 1
2 Hillcrest 2 0 5 2
3 Mauldin 1 1 4 3
4 Laurens 1 1 2 5
5 Wade Hampton 0 2 2 5
6 Riverside 0 2 1 6

2 Greenwood 235.3 Hillcrest 221.4 7
2 Laurens 197.8 Riverside 154.3 22
2 Mauldin 231.4 Wade Hampton (G) 191.3 20
Obviously, the Greenwood -vs- Hillcrest games goes a long way in determining the Region Championship. Greenwood already holds a win over Mauldin and a win here and they are firmly in the driver's seat as they will likely be heavy favorites in the remaining games. A Hillcrest win and you may need to start brushing up on the three way tiebreaker for Region Two?

Region Three W L W L
1 Dorman 2 0 5 2
2 Spartanburg 1 0 5 2
3 Byrnes 1 1 6 1
4 Gaffney 0 1 3 4
5 Boiling Springs 0 2 4 3

3 Spartanburg 238.2 Dorman 232.4 3
3 Boiling Springs 223.3 Gaffney 219.8 2
3 James F. Byrnes 238.9 Nation Ford 193.4 23
Did the Vikings and Cavs need anything else to add to the importance of their game? I mean they already have enough on the line without adding the Region Championship to the list. If the Cavs win, the only way they are not Region Champs would be to lose to a 2-1 Byrnes team and then you would have a two way or three way tie should the Vikings beat Boiling Springs and Gaffney. And speaking of those two, the loser of Friday's game has all but eliminated themselves from the playoffs unless they get some help. No pressure!

Region Four W L W L
1 Northwestern 1 0 4 3
2 Rock Hill 1 0 2 5
3 Fort Mill 1 1 4 3
4 Nation Ford 1 1 3 4
5 Clover 0 2 2 4

4 Fort Mill 199.1 Rock Hill 198.3 Toss
4 Northwestern 222.6 Clover 194.3 15
OK, raise your hands if back in August you had the Fort Mill and Rock Hill match up determining the Region Runner up? {Insert sounds of crickets here} That is where we are! Rock Hill actually has the better chance of wrapping it up as they already have the head to head over Nation Ford, so advancing to 2-0 in the Region for the Bearcats could mean two home games in Rock Hill on the first weekend of the playoffs. Folks in the area get to see football on Thursday and Friday! Been a while since that has happened....

Region Five W L W L
1 Spring Valley 3 0 7 0
2 Dutch Fork 3 0 5 1
3 Lexington 2 2 5 3
4 White Knoll 1 2 4 3
5 Blythewood 1 2 3 4
6 Irmo 1 3 5 3
7 River Bluff 1 3 2 6

5 Lexington 208.5 Blythewood 174.1 18
5 Dutch Fork 268.4 White Knoll 206.2 31
5 Spring Valley 239.7 River Bluff 189.6 25
A Lexington win may help get them a home game in week one but other than that, two heavy favorites again. Would either of them get caught looking to next week?
Region Six W L W L
1 Conway 2 0 6 1
2 Sumter 2 0 6 1
3 Carolina Forest 2 0 6 1
4 Socastee 0 2 4 3
5 West Florence 0 2 1 6
6 South Florence 0 2 1 6

6 Sumter 234.9 Carolina Forest 220.7 7
6 Conway 223.3 South Florence 190.8 16
6 Socastee 207.6 West Florence 183.3 13
Two of the 2-0 teams face off, and most everyone thinks it will be Sumter who moves on to 3-0. Doodles only says a 7 point margin and you have to believe that is what would be expected…. But this is high school football and you just never know. Carolina Forest has been making progress and the schedule worked out that the harder games didn't happen first this year. So maybe it has been smoke and mirrors or maybe they are ready to compete for a Region Title???

Region Seven W L W L
1 Fort Dorchester 4 0 7 0
2 Summerville 4 0 5 1
3 Ashley Ridge 3 1 5 2
4 Wando 2 2 3 4
5 West Ashley 1 3 3 3
6 Goose Creek 1 3 1 5
7 Stratford 1 3 1 6
8 James Island 0 4 0 6

7 Wando 207.9 Goose Creek 198.2 5
7 West Ashley 201.1 Stratford 176.3 13
7 Summerville 213.4 James Island 171.5 21
7 Fort Dorchester 281.5 Ashley Ridge 210.2 36

The only real comments here are "36 points". Ashley Ridge a 36 point underdog to Fort Dorchester. Their two losses are to Boiling Springs {in overtime if I remember correctly} and a real close loss to Summerville. Yet the computer says they are 5 TD's short of matching up with Fort D. Is that telling us just how good the Patriots are?

What it could be: {I broke ties by coin flip... or I went back and changed the prediction of a game}

R F R=Region F=Finish
1 #1 T L Hanna
3 #4 Gaffney .........A Rematch from Week 0
------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 #3 Rock Hill
2 #2 Hillcrest .............Might be a tough match up
------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 #1 Spartanburg
1 #4 Easley ..............Sorry Jack
------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 #3 Mauldin
4 #2 Fort Mill ...........I'd see Mauldin as the favorite
------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 #1 Northwestern
2 #4 Laurens .................NW lost as a #1 last year?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 #3 Woodmont
3 #2 Byrnes ..................I know zip about Woodmont?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 #1 Greenwood
4 #4 Nation Ford ...........Greenwood rolling along.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 #3 Dorman
1 #2 Westside .............Maybe the best first round game

0 F R=Region F=Finish
5 1 Dutch Fork
7 6 West Ashley
------------------------------------------------------------------------
6 3 Carolina Forest
7 3 Ashley Ridge <--Home Team by bracket
------------------------------------------------------------------------
6 2 Conway
5 5 Blythewood
------------------------------------------------------------------------
5 4 Irmo
7 2 Summerville
------------------------------------------------------------------------
6 1 Sumter
7 5 Goose Creek
------------------------------------------------------------------------
5 2 Spring Valley
7 4 Wando
------------------------------------------------------------------------
7 1 Fort Dorchester
AL AL AT LARGE ...........They could combine the other teams and I'd still take Fort D
------------------------------------------------------------------------
5 3 Lexington
6 4 West Florence

Our coaches screwed the pooch against MB. Had two weeks to prepare for your biggest rival and come out flat with no offensive game plan

Man, that sounds familiar... we came off the bye week and had zero offense against Spartanburg. Now I'm not saying our coaches blew it, but we couldn't move the ball with any consistency.... of course the Viking defense played a part in that as well and to be totally honest, we've not had a lot of offensive consistency all season.

CF has played two good teams and got beat handily. Sumter wins by at least 21.

I hope that's the truth. Only our 3rd home game of the year and it's homecoming. If we come out ready to play it could get ugly really quick.

You never know in high school football, but I don't think that I would take Carolina Forest unless they gave me 21.5 points.... like they said, the 5-2 record doesn't look as good when you look at the details.

Carolina Forest Providence Day W
St. James Carolina Forest W
Carolina Forest Hoggard L
Myrtle Beach Carolina Forest L
Carolina Forest Loris W
Socastee Carolina Forest W
Carolina Forest South Florence W
