Saw where you guys were trailing (24-15) in the 3rd quarter.
What sparked to the comeback?

More like how did Northwestern fall apart after taking control?

The defense stepped up in the 4th quarter and forced some turnovers. Then the offense took advantage of it.

Oh come on. The MIGHTY CAVALIERS were just toying with the condom makers. You never really expected NW to actually win the game, did you? Dorman was just purposely getting Northwestern’s little hopes up, only to rip their hearts out! You must never call the greatness of the MIGHTY CAVALIERS into question, or the greatness of NUCLEAR CAV himself for that matter!

All joking aside, this was a very nice win for Dorman. I know NW is down some right now, but they are still NW. The Cavs showed a lot of heart and they showed they can come from behind on the road in a venue that is always though to play in. Good job Cavs. And Trojans, it will get better!

Great post NC90!

I appreciate the humor.

A couple of things to say about the game...

1) You guys know I have a policy of not complaining against refs but Pickren came over at halftime where me and trojangrad were sitting and informed us by his official accouting, the penalty yards were 105-0 against the Cavs vs the Trojans at one point. There was a horrendous spotting of the football at one point that gave the Trojans a free 1st. Even Trojangrad agreed about that call because it was a QB slide and the spot which is supposed to be where the QB starts the slide wasn't where it started or ended but about a yd PAST where the slide ended. I will say that the refs later on gave the Cavs a first down that we agreed they hadn't earned and might have been recompense for the first bad call. Not sure. But it sure seemed like the Cavs were competing against not only the Trojans but the refs. Anyway, I always loved a good game where you had to actually play so good that you can beat bad referreing (sp?).

2) The Cavs in typical style just came out cold in the 1st half. They weren't fired up, they weren't getting to the line quick. Some passes were a little off. The pick-six was a great route and pass but the corner made the perfect move on the ball to gain position, catch the ball, and take it all the way in unopposed. Pinkney dropped 2 long TD passes. A couple of other promising pass plays just didn't come out heads up for us. The play calling was (typically) a little too balanced. We seemed to be winning the line of scrimmage and controling the game when staying on the ground but instead of wearing out the Trojan line early with some smash-mouth football we seemed to be just a little too scripted.

3) NW really capitalized and played well last night. They were well prepared and the game plan seemed to be very solid. As TG78 predicted though, the size and strength of the Dorman line just weared the NW Trojans down over time until we could move the ball at will.

4) There were two VERY costly penalties committed by the Trojans that were probably where the momentum turned. It can also be pointed out that Dorman's TO's were also critical to them getting behind early.

Hopefully we can get it all tuned up soon. As usual Dorman looked last night like an ambitious plan that just needs tweaking.
