RF74 takes a shot at the 5A Bracket Projection

Post by Rebel-Fan-74 »

Based on results to date, this is my current projection for the 5A bracket. I'm still working on the spreadsheet matching up to the bracket just released by the SCHSL, so if there is a linking issue, please forgive me, but we all make mistakes. Just let me know and I will fix it.

When it comes to the Region positions that I have projected, remember that Bracket Projections, like Polls, are just someone's opinion and we all know, opinions are like butt holes... we all have them and some of them stink! If you don't like my projection, feel free to post your own....

After 9/22 games, I've made a couple of moves. By far and away, the most difficult Region for me is Region II. Right now, I'm thinking that the tiebreakers will be in play for Region II. Region games begin next week and some of this will move from pure conjecture to real results and move more from Projections to reality.

Thanks R74. I always look forward to your projections. It will be interesting to see how close this initial projection comes to reality. I will say that Carolina Forest gave Summerville much more of a fight than Sumter but it was our first game of the year. I do think those two teams finish 1/2 in their region. If I had to guess today I would pick Carolina Forest over Sumter.

For the past couple of years I have picked them as well, but Sumter seems to end up at #1 every year so I decided to just put them there from the start. I wanted to put CF at the top, I really did....

I have no idea why so many, including the media, continue to be in love with Lexington. They aren’t that good. Barely beat Stratford and got handled by a 3A team. You will see

Well, I'm definitely not in love with them...

So who should be there? It was basically a flip of the coin on my part.
Lexington has beaten Blythewood on the road and layed an egg against Gilbert
River Bluff only played one team that looks impressive and got beat 42-0.
White Knoll is unbeaten but look at the opponents... no one with a pulse.
Chapin does have a win over A C Flora last night, so maybe I should have gone with them?

I'll take a look at 4A and 3A this week sometime. The hardest part is setting up the spreadsheet to match the Region Standings. Once I set up the sheet, you could do the projections.....

Region 2 5A is going to be a slugfest every week from here on out unless you are playing boiling springs or dormsn as bad as I hate to say that dorman looks like a lost puppy after the coaching fiasco last year. You could honestly draw the top 3 out of a hat. Luckily for Gaffney we have a bye week this week and hopefully we can get injuries healed up and be ready for war next week when we go to Spartanburg for a region match up that I’m guessing will be a dog fight and could possibly set the time for the region championship

Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if all of the above mentioned didn’t beat Lexington.
