WELL, I AM OVER THE FORT, NOW TO SUMTER ON FRIDAY THE 13TH

Post by CITYSLICKER »

When I arrive at Freddie Soloman Field on Friday the 13th, win or lose, My mind will be flooded with the memories of Freddie, slashing and dashing and destroying the teams defenses, The smell of the epic 1981 playoff game in the dead of winter, my bones shaking as we nip the gamecocks 21 to 15 and going to state and upsetting the great Gaffney Indians when it seemed all hope was lost. yes, its the memories of such great journeys, not the final destination that keeps the thrill of the games in my soul

Sumter renames field after football great Freddie Solomon

Delilah "Dee" Solomon never got to see her late husband, Freddie, play a down of football at Sumter Memorial Stadium.
On Friday, she was able to see what those who did see Solomon play on that field thought of him, not only as an athlete, but as a man as well.
The Sumter Memorial Stadium field was dedicated as Freddie Solomon Field to honor the Sumter High School great during a ceremony prior to SHS' football game against Carolina Forest.

I got to see Solomon play twice in high school.
He was quick as lightning and could turn a game around in 1 play.
When he hit the corner you could forget it he was gone.
He probably still ranks as one of the best high school players i have seen...
Wikipedia has stated that while at the University of Tampa
he clocked running the 40 At 4.25...

Can't hide from me...

JB can't hide, none of ya'll can.

I am back from the Afghanistan...finally.

We know how this playoff bit goes...Everybody playin' for 2nd...and Fearin' The Fox

Defense flies to the ball...Good QB, good RBs, big strong OL and the best set of receivers in the state...again. Spencer, Williams, Hyatt, Sowell...names my change but the result is the same.

Good photo of me....handsome, ain't I.

I think the Stags pull the upset and go in and squeak out a victory by 3 points
