That would be hard to do, especially when trying to schedule teams that would produce at least a little gate. In truth, Riverside would only be competitive with maybe the weakest teams from 3A and 2A. Riverside is in a tough spot football wise. Major changes need to be made with a huge emphasis on football to turn things around. Unfortunately, you just dont see that happen in Greenville County.

Years ago when high stakes testing was coming down the pipe, the central office put out a directive that all GC high schools would have to aim to be above the mean of the county as a measure of their success with the testing scores..... which is a mathematical impossibility. This is the thinking of the leadership at the central office.

GC has voted on splitting the district up several times. But the central office keeps dolling out funds and building projects on a just in time rate that insures that when the call comes up for a vote to split the district, none of the areas that would benefit from not having to cowtow to the largess of the mega district, don't want to lose that cash. Look at how the Golden Strip has been waiting on that new high school.

Mauldin, Hillcrest, Woodmont, and what would have been the money cow HS should have revolted years ago to leave GCSD but they took the new Hillcrest, Mauldin upgrades, new Woodmont, new cheap football bleachers, new light poles, and many little Nik naks to be happy with continuing with being part of the Leviathan.

Just look at the history of Golden Strip Warrior Leroy Hamilton and his service and the rewards the central office has bestowed upon him. He never set foot in a classroom yet has been an admin at every level, and even called out of retirement.

The powers that be know that with all the growth from outsiders, they never have to worry about a campaign that would dislodge their power hold on the district.

:? It's fine to aim to be above average, but very wrong to expect a majority to be above average. Math doesn't work that way.

Mauldin just proved how little they care. This dude gave up 80 points in 1 game as a DC. Did they learn nothing when they hired Cannabis.

Who did Mauldin hire? I haven't seen anything on it but your post indicates they have hired a DC from somewhere?
