Shrine Bowl (spoiler alert if you plan to wtch ESPNU replay!

Post by NuclearCav90 »

I was in attendance. The first half was dominated by defense or probably more accurately poor offensive play. It ended with a 10-7 halftime lead for NC on a safety, TD, and two-point conversion. SC’s only TD came on a long TD reception by Jalin Hyatt of Dutch Fork. NC’s TD came on a blocked punt return. In the second half the offenses picked it up for both teams and the game went back and forth for a while until SC pulled away in the 4th for the 28-17 win. SC went up 14-10 on another Jaylin Lane TD reception. NC answered and retook the lead 17-14 on a TD pass. Then Carolina Forest QB Mason Garcia found the endzone on a run to put SC back up 21-17. Garcia has a nice game, as did Chapman QB Mikele Colasurdo. Finally after a NC fumble, SC put the icing on the cake with a TD run from Byrnes’ Rahjai Harris. The game was then sealed when Buddy Mack of Byrnes intercepted a N.C. pass and SC ran out the clock for the win, their first in the Shrine Bowl since 2014.
